Photography of Jenni's dog Ellie a black Cavoodle
In 2025 I said good bye to my pet dog Chilli after more than fifteen years together. One of the things I regret the most was not getting more photos taken of us together doing the things we enjoyed.
So I decided to create a new dog photography service to help other dog owners not make the same mistake that I did.
Yes everyone has lots of photos of their dog, but nearly every person I speak to doesn’t really have photos with their dog.
Jenni had experienced this, she was the one always taking photos of Ellie her black Cavoodle but most of the time that was when she was doing things with her husband or her son. So Jenni realised she didn’t really have any photos of her together with Ellie even after more than 10 years being together.
As you can see in this photo Jenni shared with me that she took in December 2023, Ellie has an adorable face and I can imagine when she gives Jenni those puppy dog eyes it would be hard to refuse her demands.
Read below what Ellie means to Jenni and her family.

What has owning a black Cavoodle meant to Jenni's life?
Jenni feels very blessed to be the proud owner to one of the most gorgeous natured dogs for the last sixteen years, Her black Cavoodle Ellie brings brings so much joy to Jenni’s family every day. She describes her dog Ellie as the heart of her family, she had been her son’s loyal companion since he was 5 years old, my husband’s little snuggle buddy & Jenni’s ‘shadow’ whenever I’m doing anything around the house.
In fact Jenni’s husband and son often joke that Ellie is the ‘favourite child’ in this home.
“We are so lucky to have her in our lives” – Jenni
Black and white photos of Jenni with her black Cavoodle
Jenni and Ellie, her adorable black Cavoodle, have been together for sixteen years which is absolutely incredible because a quick search online says that this dog breed has a life span of between 13 and 15 years. So that tells me straight away that Jenni has certainly taken good care of Ellie for all that time.
She sent me a photo of Ellie via Messenger which I think she may use day to day as emotional blackmail, as you probably saw it is one of those faces that you can’t say no to.
Very typically though, Jenni as the main pet parent has lots of photos of Ellie with her husband and her son, but not many of Jennie with Ellie, so this photo session was all about finally getting some beautiful photos of the two of them together.
Jenni was under the impression that a black Cavoodle is not ideal for photos but as you can see with the right technique, lighting and camera equipment it is possible to take great photos of a black dog.
Ellie was incredibly patient and calm during the photo session, keeping quite composed the whole time. She has just been for her regular run in the park so was a little tired which made things a bit easier. One challenge was trying to capture photos of her adorable eyes but her nose and face hair had a few other ideas.
As you can see, hiring a photographer or a 3rd person, to take photos can compliment what you take with your mobile phone, you get to see a different perspective and the opportunity to be in the photos with your dog enjoying their company. This can create some really nice photos to remember.
What did Jenni think of the photos I took?
“Oh my God 🥰 They are beautiful photos I love them”
“I had the pleasure of meeting Paul recently when he took some photo’s of myself and my senior dog Ellie.
I am so thrilled with the photo’s he took, not only did he put us both at ease, he really took advantage of the light and the setting in the park which I really feel came through in the final product
I could not recommend Paul highly enough”
In memory of Chilli
This photography service was created in 2025 in memory of Chilli. Chilli was a rescue dog who spent just over fifteen years with me becoming my companion, best friend and someone I will miss dearly.
He enjoyed a great life and was a constant in my life through thick and thin, lived in many different places and even spent some time on the road experiencing van life. A Maltese Shih Tzu who looked like a teddy bear when his fur was long and a Dalmation when he was clipped short.
He is the reason that I now provide pet photography for dogs in Sydney either at your home, a local park or your chosen location. For senior pets I also offer end of life pet photography sessions as I will always regret not getting more photos taken with him and I together.
