Photography for historic motorsport

I really enjoy being a photographer at historic racing events, some say these events are motorsport’s best kept secret. The Summer Festival was held in December 2022 at Sydney Motorsport Park with a mix of categories racing during the day, with constant action on the race track.

The Historic Sports and Racing Car Association of NSW (Inc) is one of Australia’s leading car clubs catering specifically for historic racing, sports and touring cars. The 2022 Summer Festival featured Formula 5000s as well as a huge field of Historic Sports Sedans. There was a Group S endurance race as well as various speed events for Regularity and Super Sprint. Sydney Motorsport Park was pretty busy with historic motorsport from practice sessions on Friday all the way through to racing on Saturday and Sunday.

There was over 200 racing cars at the meeting with a mix of open wheelers, touring cars & everything in between including a Ferrari P330 V12.

Enjoy the photo gallery, one of the enjoyable aspects of this type of motorsport event is there are not too many people and there is great access in the pit area and around the circuit as well. You can get up pretty close and get a dose of burning rubber or good old fashion petrol burning.
