Family portrait photo session in Burwood Park
Claudine booked our professional photographer service in Sydney for a family portrait session. She wanted professional photos taken of her three year old son as well as family photos with her and her husband.
Instead of getting photos taken in a studio which are typically quite posed and static, Claudine wanted to very natural, fun photos created. So she chose to have an outdoor family portrait photo session in a local park.
Claudine wanted a set of photos that was very natural, candid and not posed. Going to a local park is the perfect way to achieve this because it provides lots of different locations to create photos.
If there is a kids playground the swings, slippery slides and other rides can be used, nice grassy areas can be a great place for photos or even the seating areas near trees or water features.
As a photographer I was able to use lots of different locations within the park to create a really fun set of photos. As you can see in the sample of family portrait photos in the gallery above we managed to use pathways, the slide and even balloons to create unique compositions.

The family portrait photo shoot sessions that I sell will typically have the same inclusions, what differs is the location, timing & number of photos or prints that are purchased from the session.
Pre-Session consultation
The process typically begins with a pre-session consultation. This is an opportunity to discuss your preferences, vision, and any specific ideas you may have.
Whether you prefer an outdoor setting, a studio backdrop, or a session in the comfort of your own home, I am a photographer in Sydney that can tailor the photo shoot to meet your specific preferences.
I can also provide guidance on outfit choices to help you coordinate styles and colours to create a cohesive look for the group of people attending the session.
The photo session
On the day of the shoot, as a professional photographer I will work to create a fun and engaging atmosphere. Sessions generally last between 45 minutes and 1 hour, depending on the number of people and the complexity of the shots.
I will will guide you through a variety of poses and candid moments, ensuring I capture the essence of your family’s unique dynamic. Special care is taken to highlight individual personalities while showcasing the bond that ties everyone together.
Variety of photos created
A family portrait session includes a mix of group shots, smaller groupings (such as parents with children), and individual portraits. This ensures a versatile collection of images that capture both the collective and individual spirit of your family. I might also incorporate props or natural elements to add texture and character to the photos
Post session editing
Once the session is complete, I will carefully select and edit the best images. I will enhance lighting, colours, and other details to ensure each photo is polished and professional.
After editing, you’ll have the opportunity to review the final collection through an online gallery
Digital files, prints or products
You can then choose from a range of options, including digital downloads, prints, canvas wall art or custom albums to showcase your favourite images. These keepsakes are perfect for displaying in your home or gifting to loved ones.
